Aussie Nails Monday 11Feb "Food" - Caviar nails

natural sunlight
This weeks Aussie Nails Monday's theme is 'Food'. I had an awesome week away holidaying at a coastal town and my nails were naked for longer than I can remember. It feels strange to have chunky textured "caviar" - coloured micro beads - on my nails and it was good decision to have them only as accent, for two reasons: 1) the caviar discolor the next day, fainted from bright purple to silver, and 2) they keep dropping off which is no good when I have small children around. I bought my nail caviar from an online site, maybe you've better experience from branded caviar-polish system?

For base colour, I used essie's No More Film, a deep violet cream which looks similar to butter London's Marrow. On the rest of my nails, I layered on Cult Nail's Seduction, a colour shifting purple sheer with red and blue flakes, subtle but stunning.

I was not very patient with caviar. My initial application was to dip my ring finger into a pot of caviar immediately after polishing (to let beads stick on wet polish), and clean up the edges with a small paint brush. After one third dropped off the next day, I peeled the remaining caviar off, put on a layer of PVA glue base coat and dipped finger into the caviar pot - and that's the chunky accent you see in photo taken under natural sunlight.

So my first try with caviar mani leaves me feeling I just had caviar - slightly fishy and an acquired taste. xx Ann
