I did two manicures over Christmas and was too busy to post
during the festive time.
With the first, I used
Fawkes of Alanna Renee’s Magical world
collection as base (
http://www.alannarenee.com/nail-polish/).
Fawkes is a bright red jelly filled with gold and red hexs and specks – very
much a Chinese New Year colour! Alanna was a bit heavy handed with the pigment
and may have discontinued Fawkes for this reason (I cannot find Fawkes on her
webpage). Personally, I think the extra goodness made Fawkes even more stunning; potential staining can be prevented with doubling your basecoat, which is
habitual for me anyway. Some Christmas nail décor were added to complete the Christmassy feel. They’re bit big in sizes, Santa is not really that appealing (reminds me of the Creepy Santa up at Whitcoulls on Queen's street in Auckland, New Zealand), but fun none the less.
I also used Fawkes for friend’s NYE mani, with Golden Snitch as accent.
Golden Snitch is a mix of fine pale gold and silver glitter in a clear base, with small round gold glitters resembling the gold ball with silver wings used in Quidditch. I have only used Golden Snitch on its own but can also be used as a topper. Both polishes were applied in three coats and one generous layer of top coat (Peita’s Quick! Gloss me up!) (

To match the red theme, I made a fresh strawberry pavlova and opened a bottle of my favourite sparkling merlot - that's my kind of Christmas! xx Ann
