Hello! Hope you had a good week. I am always looking for excuses to try new nail art techniques. Taking advantage of our time zone ahead of many countries across the globe (USA in particular, where the BRASS of NAILlgasm started the celebration),
I tried out water spotting for the International Nail Art Day (3rd
Aug).
I followed the tutorial on the Lacquerheads of Oz (here)
by Bec of Nail Gun XS (http://www.nailgunxs.com)
and the brain behind Arcane Lacquer (http://www.etsy.com/au/shop/ArcaneLacquer).
Water spotting is an alternative water marbling technique, using 70% alcohol
to ‘separate’ the polish into random patterns – pretty smart really! The finishing
is similar to the traditional spatter (with drinking straw), except the polish
layers come out much thinner and therefore less chunky and dries quicker. Clean
up is similarly messy but you can always prepare by tape off the skin around the
nails. I spotted a few air bubbles upon finishing, which is already much better
than my spatter (bubble caused by polish blobs being too thick, they shrinks upon drying hence leaving ‘bubbles/holes’ behind.) I will definitely try water
spotting again with different colour combinations!
Have fun Nail Art-ing! xx Ann

Is there any event in London for this international nail art day?
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine, I am sure there is celebration in London! There is a pop-up nail art stall in Melbourne, Australia, celebrating the occasion. Or simply join in by tagging your nail art with #INAD on Instagram ;)
DeleteThis is a really nice water spotting! All the colours go very well together and blend nicely.
