This week's Monday Challenge is "Winter". Inspired by a post on Lacquerheads of Oz by Bec of Nail Gun XS's (click here for the original tutorial), I decided to give pigment manicure a go. It was surprising easy and satisfying!
What you need:
1) Base polish: I used a-england Jane Eyre, a gorgeous rich dark red shimmer in ink black base
2) Pigments or eyeshadow powder: I used Femme Fatale Cosmetic's pigments colour shift/duochrome pigments which you can find here
3) a brush: to pick up and drop pigment on nails
4) Tapes to cover cuticle. Optional depends on how messy or how tolerant you are to sparkly pigment everywhere.
5) Top coat: I used a-england The Knight
What you need:

Steps:
1) Tape up your cuticle as in first image.
2) Paint your base coat and let dry.
3) Now, one nail at a time, paint a layer of top coat. While the top coat is still wet, drop pigment/eye shadow on top of the nail using the brush. Note: Don't touch the wet top coat with the brush.
4) Paint a layer of top coat on the now pigmented nail.
5) Repeat steps 3 & 4 with a different colour pigment to add depth and pattern.
6) Finally seal the design with top coat and let dry. Remove tape and wash hands.
Afterthought: Pigment nail is so much easier and less messy than spatter! Layering lighter/brighter pigment on top of darker pigment would probably give more depth and more interesting pattern. I can't help but added another layer of eyeshadow next day. I think it is a great way to refresh a mid-week mani =) Thanks for reading and have a great week ahead! xx Ann
