"Eureka!" - Glow-in-the-dark top coat with neon glitters by Loki's!

Being in Australia means we lag in all polish releases. Seeing all the American Indie neon glitter polishes and glow-in-the-dark polishes on Instagram makes me want them so badly. Unfortunately, I don't have an US/international swap buddy, and I cannot bear the waiting time and high postage cost with 'on-the-trend' polishes.

Lucky for me, Tara of Loki's Lacquer lives locally and I asked if we can custom-made our own, alike to Kinder Egg (three surprises in one), to kill my thirst. We came up with Eureka!

Eureka! is a 1) UV-LED activated glow-in-the-dark aqua-colour base, 2) with neon orange bars, hot pink and matte red hearts, hot pink butterflies, glow-in-the-dark yellow and blue hexagon and tiny dot glitters, 3) clear top coat in normal lighting. A crazy mix!
It take a minute or two 'activation' time under an UV LED lamp. And the glow lasts for hours! Since it has tiny GITD dot glitters, it kinda looks like textured polish in the dark.
Eureka! reminds of my work with fluorescence confocal microscopy. Protein of interest are often labelled with a fluorescent tag. Excitation by UV (typically 300-400 nm) or other visible wavelength (e.g 488, 594, 691 nm) changes the energy state of the tag, giving out a photon and therefore the fluoresce or GITD. And a lot of time seeing GITD is my Eureka! moment =D I absolutely adore my one-of-a-kind polish XD
My precious experiments with calcium indicator that GITD!
A word of warning: Don't look at the UV LED lamp directly! It can damaging your eye.

Have an awesome weekend/ Friday afternoon everyone! xx Ann

You can contact Tara at her Etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/Lokislacquer) to custom-made your own polish. Her new "This is Serious" collection inspired by the movie Shaun of the Dead also have a GITD polish available.
