Australia Day mani with Pretty Serious and Loki's Lacquer

26th January is Australia Day, the national day of Australia which celebrates Australian history and cultural diversity. As a migrant, I found this date a bit contrived but nevertheless very welcoming – a long weekend to rekindle festivities and hangovers from the Christmas and New Year.

Since I am on conference this whole week (yes, even on public holiday), I opted for a simple mani. I followed the same colour scheme I used last year and did a gold/yellow glitter gradient on green with a gold accent. For the canvas, I used Pretty Serious Cosmetics’s Blue Gums on Boxing Day from the Christmas without Snow collection (see Kaz's description here)– a mesmerizing emerald green jelly with blue shimmer! Blue Gum (Eucalyptus globulus) is a subspecies of the Ecucalyptus tree native to Australia. Its leaves are Koala’s main diet. Since the leaves provide little energy to the Koala, these cute creatures often appear drunk or ‘lazy’ because they have developed a low-energy lifestyle to compensate for their extremely low-energy diet.

For gradient I used Loki’s Lacquer’s special one-off polish Tara made for her girls’ birthday giveaway (see the story behind Tara's giveaway: here). I was so fortunate to have won Tara’s giveaway, along with a brunch of awesome prizes are three one-off polish Tara handcrafted to celebrate her girls’ birthday. This lemony-orange dots and flakies glitter toper which I named it “lemon pop-rock spill” ;) is one of them. I’ll sure show off “taking the goldfish to school” and “catching the moon in the swimming pool” in due course.
Under bright sunlight, Gold was Zoya Peterhof Palace.

Polishes I used and Vegemite made in Australia to curb my craving for Marmite (made in New Zealand and hardly available where I live).

This mani is as Australian as I can go, hope you like it!

What do you think of the new 'baby claw'/almond nail shape I'm rocking right now? It's on trend and many of the girls in our Aussie FB nail group have taken it on. Let me know your thought?

Cheers,
Ann
