piCture pOlish Blog Fest/Challenge 2013!! Whimsy, Demeter, Hot Lips nail art skittle!

I am so excited and privileged to show you my nail art created for piCture pOlish’s annual blog fest! It is in fact, a nail art challenge!  The theme is “Year of the Blogger” - This year it’s all about you (as blogger) and celebrating what you do! Selected bloggers are given 3 x piCture pOlish shades to create their most ‘amazing nail art manicure ever’, and to include a step by step tutorial

3 awards will be given out from all the nail art entries – the opportunity to create a collaboration shade with piCture pOlish!! Awards will be given to the nail art creation receiving most votes from piCture pOlish’s special Pinterest Blog Fest 2013 board: Click here to Vote!!
1x Award – as voted by PP friends and fans
1x Award – as voted by all selected participants of Blog Fest 2013
1x Award – as voted by the girls at piCture pOlish

The 3 shades I received are:
Demeterbrown holographic jelly - a collaboration shade by Harlow & Co
Whimsybaby blue crème with golden glass flecks - a collaboration shade by Neverland Nail Blog
Hot Lipsneon HOT pink crème - by piCture pOlish
All very pretty and unique!

My first decision is to showcase these three shades alone - without any nail art accessories or stamping (beads, flocking powder, foil…you know I like them, so it’s hard...). Secondly, I want the design to celebrate what I do – a nail polish/ nail art blogger! And lastly, I want it to be simple and easy to follow.

Things you will need:
1) Baking paper – to make polish decal (thanks to Tammy of @ohmygoshpolish) and to use as polish palette
2) Tooth picks or skewer – for dotting
3) Art punch – 10 mm, I used one that I can buy easily at Lincraft for ~$4
4) Demeter, Whimsy and Hot Lips, and a good top coat- that is Dazzle Dry for me

How:
1) Paint my nails with Whimsy and Demeter as base colours
Two coats of Whimsy or Demeter, no top coat
2) Leopard print: pointer and pinkie with hot lips as core and Whimsy/Demeter for outlining: dot hot lips on with tooth picks/skewer tip, then surround the dot with thinner line using the other shades.

3) Happy hands polish decal: *prepare in advance on baking paper, paint 3x layers of Demeter as a patch, leave to dry for a few hours or over night. Lift the dried polish up from baking paper carefully – with a pair of tweezers or just part with your nails. Punch out the design you want. Paint nail with top coat and place polish decal on the nail while TC is still wet.

4) Free hand: touch up the final design by polishing tip of hands with Hot Lip. I wrote a “P” on each Happy hand (with Illamasqua Precision ink in Glister) because this hot shade is by piCture pOlish ;) – always acknowledge the brand I use – that’s what I do as a blogger!

5) Top coat and done =D

The design fits the theme “Year of the Blogger” for me, because I love mix and match different nail art techniques, trying new techniques - this is my first time doing Leopard! And each design often has some hidden surprise:
See how Hot Lips glows under LED UV lamp! xx

Hope you like my piCture pOlish nail art skittle – and put in a vote for me! ;D xx Ann
